Hundreds turn up for national Volleyball Circuit

The second leg of the Club Beer National Beach Volleyball Circuit attracted a record turn up of 39 teams and a mammoth spectatorship at Lido Beach Resort as UVF intensified on the national squad hunting.

Previous winners, Mariam Nakamanya, and partner Prossy Alobo, managed to elude an earlier loss in the preliminaries to Kulthum Nakamanya, Liz Kyosimire, defending the ladies crown by stopping the new pairing of Margaret Nambassa and Caroline Okello in the women's final 21-15.

However it was a rough road for Jeff Lwalanda and Lawrence Yakan to defend the men's title. They had to dig-in deeper to evade a determined pair of Isaac Omedo and Jensen Chestit at semifinals 2-1 and also harden more, to stop a surprise onslaught from Peter Buyungo, paired with Richard Tamale in the finals that ended prematurely due to poor lighting.

They won on points-ratio advantage after tying 12-12 in the deciding set when play was stopped. This makes Jeff Lwalanda the current men's seed one for the first time in his career. Nile breweries sales team gurus, Lloyd Okiror, and Daphne Mwesigwa graced the prize awarding ceremony.
