Uganda golfers to host EA seniors tournament

In a bid to keep golfers on the course for a long time, Uganda Veteran Golfers Association is planning to organize an annual East African Seniors Golf tournament.

The planned golf tournament will be played in three countries, Kenya , Tanzania and Uganda as a circuit after the local Seniors Golf Tournament.

The Chairman Uganda Senior Golfers Association, Fred Opio, made the remark while launching the weekend JBG Seniors Golf Tournament which will be held at the 72 par Kitante Golf Course.

The medal play format of tournament will accommodate players of three age groups 55 to 60, 61 to 69 and 70 and above, all from different golf clubs of Uganda .

Opio highlighted the achievements for the veteran golfers association including Golf development programs in schools which is meant for bring on board new talented golfers.

Eddy Wapenyi explained that Golf is no longer a sport for the rich, but one that accommodates people of different calibers.
