WEIGHTLIFTING Championships

Africa Weightlifting Federation has picked Uganda as the next host for the Junior and Africa Youth Weightlifting Championships due 23 rd November to 3 rd December 2008 in Kampala .

During the Africa Weightlifting Federation executive meeting held in South Africa recently, it was agreed upon that Liberia and Malawi be accommodated by the Continental Weightlifting body.

Commenting on the assignment, Uganda Weightlifting Federation secretary Salim Musoke explained that this is a great advantage for the locals to compete against Africa 's youth cream.

In a meeting presided over by the Continental Weightlifting president Gamil Hanna it was passed that Africa be divided into three zones according to locations.

For the best two African countries, each zone will be required to take part in the newly introduced Africa Cup.

The Competitions agreed upon include the Senior Africa Weightlifting Championships for Men and Women, Junior Africa, and African Youth Championships for the under 17 lifters.
