USPA Nominates cranes as the best team for the month of June

The Uganda sports press association votes the national soccer team the Cranes as month of June best. In the voting exercise conducted by USPA general Secretary Ahamed Hussein at Lugogo, Cranes pulled 605 votes beating off stiff challenge from the Rugby Cranes.

It was a difficult voting exercise for the sports scribes with both national teams having impressed in the world qualifiers. But Cranes had an upper hand following a slight improvement in the FIFA world rankings from 99 to 97 th position last month.

The Cranes snatched 4 points from Angola while the Rugby Cranes crashed Botswana in the opening game of rugby world cup qualifier to pull 590 votes.

KCC ladies basketball team that lifted the inter City title came third with 425 points, with Citizens primary schools being commended for winning the under 14 coca cola football trophy. The cranes win follows Ibrahim Sekajja's award for the month of May.
