PRESIDENT MUSEVENI WARNS MEDIA AGAIN

President Yoweri Museveni has once again threatened to clamp down on the media for allegedly peddling falsehoods regarding the economic performance of the country.

The President issued the stern warning while meeting local government leaders at their newly commissioned offices in Najjanankumbi in Kampala.

This is not the first time the president is coming down hard on the media for allegedly misrepresenting and concocting information about economic performance of the country.

On several previous occasions while presiding over official functions like the national celebrations held at the Kololo airstrip.

Museveni, who was visibly vexed, was presiding over the meeting of all district chairpersons, speakers and Resident District Commissioners where he accused particular newspapers and radio stations of inaccuracies and warned of harsh action in the near future.

At the same function, local government Minister Kahinda Otafire in his usual candid fashion, underscored the importance of the local government in developing and sustaining the state.

The chairman, Uganda Local governments association John Wycliffe Karazaarwe outlined some issues affecting the delivery of local government services including graduated tax compensation, gratuity for local government local government political leaders on full service and political leadership.
