Fire guts Migadde College

Another boarding school dormitory has caught fire, nearly the thirtieth in a space of less than three months. Makerere High School Migadde along Bombo road in Wakiso district survived being razed to the ground when one of its dormitories caught fire this morning. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, with available clues pointing towards the possibility of arson.

Lately school owners live in fear of waking up to the sad news that their school is a victim of the rampant nationwide fires. Makerere High School Migadde was not fortunate to survive such fires, as one of the dormitories accommodating 130 male students of classes Senior One to Senior Three, caught fire.

The School Director, Joseph Kisubika, rules out the possibility of a short circuit, since the dormitory meter box was not affected. No student was hurt, since they were all in their classrooms, sitting exams.

By the time fire brigade arrived at the scene, all property belonging to senior two and three students was destroyed. This fire brings the number of rampant fires to twenty nine, in a period of less than three months, with most of such fires affecting schools.

By press time, the school administration was devising ways of making room for the stranded students, and replacing their property.
