Masaza Cup kicks off on Sunday

The Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II will officiate at the Opening of this year's Masaza Cup, which kicks off on Sunday with Mawogola hosting Kooki. Tournament organizer Haji Abaasi Kawaase Mukasa has called upon all Kabaka's subjects to turn up in big numbers for the opening ceremony.

While handing over uniforms to participating teams, Haji Kawaase appealed to the hosting team to put emphasis on discipline. Bulemezi Soccer team was the first team to be banned by Masaza Cup organizing committee for indiscipline and they are still serving the punishment.

He predicted a tough Peacock Masaza Cup, where 18 county teams battle for the trophy in a home and away format. Former champions Kooki are said to have recruited new players to fill the gaps of their cream that joined Super League teams.
