Kabaka calls for unity among his subjects

The Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda II has urged the Baganda to move away from merely generating ideas to taking action on issues which will develop the kingdom.

The Kabaka also called for unity among his subjects. He was closing the first ever Buganda Conference at Hotel Africana in Kampala.

Fifteen years since the Coronation of the Kabaka, Buganda Kingdom is yet to realize all its aspirations. Among these are social and economic developments as well its standing desire for a federal system of government.

Over the years, the Baganda leaders and people have generated ideas on how to achieve these aspirations with little implementation.

Addressing the Baganda at the closure of the Buganda Conference at Hotel Africana in Kampala, The Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, said that of Buganda is to achieve its aspiration, now should be the time for action.

The Kabaka praised Buganda's capacity to accommodate others and urged the Baganda to build on this important asset to develop the Kingdom.

Addressing the Baganda on how to embrace Modernization and Globalization yet at the same time preserve culture, Prof. Ali Mazrui said that it is possible for Buganda to preserve culture yet at the same time embrace modernity just like Japan .

The Buganda Conference is the first of its kind in Buganda history. The Kabaka has callrequested the organizer to organize it annually.
