Namirembe cathedral celebrates Fathers Union day

Namirembe cathedral has celebrated Fathers Union day with the absence of role of fathers in raising up their children and marriage being the center of focus. With women getting more economically empo.

As Namirembe cathedral celebrated Fathers Union Day, the Arch Deacon Reverend Canon Jonathan Kisawuzi in his sermon said some men have entirely left family responsibilities to women.

Rev. canon Kisawuzi counseled that marriage does not spell job descriptions and therefore partners should not turn it into a platform to fight for equality but instead make efforts to build their families.

The president of the fathers' Union Grace Ssengaaga Kabali urged men to be better fathers if their children are to be better leaders tomorrow.

Only days ago, a situation analysis report on child rights in Uganda by Makerere University says 42,000 children between the ages of ten and seventeen head households.

Rev. canon Kisawuzi also blamed the increased cases of rape, adultery, and promiscuity in society on the irresponsibility of parents.

Fathers Union was started in Nairembe cathedral in 1976 by the late Bishop Danstan Nsubuga alongside the Mothers Union to help in the growth of families both spiritually as well as financially.
