Buganda Minister arrested

The Buganda Kingdom Deputy Spokesperson Medard Lubega has been arrested by CID officials. Medard Lubega who was whisked away by plain clothed CID operatives is being charged of inciting violence on radio talk shows and promoting sectarianism.

The Buganda Kingdom Deputy Spokesman Medard Lubega was arrested at about 11.00am at Arua Park according to his driver Abey Senkungu. Medard has been accused of inciting violence on radio talk shows and promoting sectarianism.

The Uganda Police Deputy Spokesperson Samson Lubega confirmed his detention at the CPS from where he will be produced before court to defend himself against the charges. Having received the news about the arrest, the Kampala Central MP Erias Lukwago in company of friends rushed to the CPS in search of Medard.

Surprising, the OC CID and the Regional CID said they did not have any knowledge of the arrest. Lukwago's version of the arrest is rather related to national issues that Lubega has been vocal in outlining.

The arrest of Medrad comes as Buganda Kingdom officials hold a conference aimed at addressing policy issues the kingdom thinks are pertinent to its cause.
