BUDDO matron denied bail

Court has again rejected the bail application of Damalie Basirika , the matron of Buddo Junior School currently facing three charges of neglect of duty over the death of 20 pupils in an inferno

Damali Basirika is charged with four security guards: Tumusiime Julius, Barisigara Stanley, Byamukama Andrew and Tumuhairwe Matia. All have been remanded at the Luzira government prison.

The Matron through her lawyer Joseph Kasozi had applied for bail on ground that it is her constitutional right and that his client was a diabetes patient.

However Chief magistrate Margaret Tibulya rejected her bail application on grounds that investigations into the cause of the fire were still ongoing.

Court last month rejected her bail application and remanded her with four others to Luzira Prison until 6 th of May this year on grounds that they may interfere with the investigations since police are still getting more information which may lead to more charges.
