Peter Semwogerere loses IBF title

Sweden based Ugandan professional boxer Peter Boys Boys Semwogerere has lost the IBF Inter-Continental Lightwelter title to Sergey Fedchenko in unanimous decision in a fight held in Ukraine .

The Orthodox Ugandan put up a very good display in the early rounds, but lost steam in the last rounds that saw Sergey winning the fight on 120-108 points.

25 year old year Semwogerere registered his second loss in his professional carrier having lost to Giogio Marinelli last year. Boys Boys now stand on 18 wins with 13 knock outs.

He got the International Boxing Federation title early this year when he beat Fedelle Belluci in Italy by a technical knock out in the third round.

Commenting on the fight, Uganda Professional Boxing Commission president Celestino Mindra, says that the loss was due to Semwogerere's failure to defend the title at home.

He advised that in order for the Sweden based boxer to regain his status, his manager Eddie Bazira must inject in a lot of money to encourage the title holder fight in Kampala or Sweden .
