Bishop warns govt against human rights abuses

West Buganda Diocesan Bishop Dr. Kefa Kamya Semakula warns government against human rights abuse. The Bishop also wants government to reserve some respect for the Mengo government Officials.

This follows the arrest of two Mengo Ministers; Charles Peter Mayigga who is in charge of Information and Cabinet affairs, and his deputy Medard Lubega Seggona together with DP Spokesperson Betty Namboze.

Medard Lubega was arrested from Arua Park in Kampala on Friday, while Charles Peter Mayigga and DP's Betty Nambooze were arrested Friday night.

Presiding over at a Cultural festival for schools under the Church of Uganda , Bishop Kefa Kamya Semakula, why government has started abusing the reasons for which it fought the 5 year bush war.

He says that although he is not yet aware of charges that have been preferred against the officials, Bishop Kefa Kamya argues that their arrest should have been in conformity with the Constitution.

Turning to education, the Bishop announced plans through which the Church hopes to improve the standard of its schools in the diocese. Among them is the institution of an Inspectorate department which is to assess the needs and challenges of the church founded schools.
